Thanks everyone for their offers! Chris Liendo was able to grab it for me, which is much appreciated; I’m in Arnold, MD (just east of Annapolis) and if anyone’s going to be at an event where he is and headed back near me and able to grab it sooner than the Untitled Holiday Party, we’d both be grateful. Otherwise, I should be able to grab it in December. Thanks! - Dave

Hey all,
Sorry to bother, but I recently won an eBay auction for a pretty decent 10G Ethernet switch (1U, nothing terribly big) without realizing it was local pickup only, and the seller is in NYC near Washington Square Park and I am in Maryland. I hate to presume, but I know we have a few NYC folks here and I was wondering if I could persuade someone to do the pickup and either ship it to me or bring it to The Event Formerly Known As Festivus (will be glad to compensate for your time as well, especially since I know space tends to be at a premium in the city)? If so, let me know, I can connect you with the seller.
Having dragged plenty of 1U systems around NYC I would argue they fall into two categories:
A. 12 inches in depth or less, in which case you can easily throw it under your arm and carry it wherever B. More than 12 inches, and after lugging it for four blocks you find yourself climbing into a taxi.
What part of Maryland are you in? I will be in Columbia, MD several times before the end of the year, and if that's nearby then I'm happy to throw it into my trunk and you can get it the next time I am down. Otherwise I can throw it into a shipping carton and walk it over to the UPS store assuming you're willing to reimburse the shipping costs.
