I was able to turn the prefix area on, using some of the settings from its' "VM" sample file (which sets a lot of common VM/CMS defaults). Whats killing me though is that it doesn't seem to support prefix area macros. Traditionally on VM, you'll delete a block of text by putting DD in the prefix area of the start line and another DD in the prefix area of an end line and the block will be deleted. Same thing for copy. I feel like I'm using XEDIT but with one hand tied behind my back (;_;) Regards, Dan FitzGerald They/Them or She/Her Classical Computing Laboratory at IBM-Poughkeepsie http://www.vm.ibm.com/devpages/dfitzger -----Original Message----- From: djg via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Reply-To: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> To: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Cc: djg <djg@pdp8online.com> Subject: Re: [vcf-midatlantic] Needed: KEdit for DOS manual Date: 04/07/2024 10:58:53 AM Yes but won't have time to scan it until the end of the month. Email me if you haven't found a copy by then. I think you can turn on prefix area but I didn't use it. This with its rexx language was quite powerful for automated text manipulation. -------- Original message --------From: Dan FitzGerald via vcf- midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Date: 4/7/24 9:46 AM (GMT-05:00) To: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Cc: Dan FitzGerald <danjfitzgerald@comcast.net>, Gary Strait <garystrait75@gmail.com> Subject: [vcf-midatlantic] Needed: KEdit for DOS manual I'm a long-time VM/CMS XEDIT user and am trying to use the DOS port of KEdit 5.0, an XEDIT clone. When I try to find a copy of the KEdit for DOS manuals online, the only thing I can find is the KEdit for Windows manual. Unfortunately, KEdit for DOS isn't exactly like XEDIT -- I can't use any prefix macros so I don't know how to do block copy and deletion.Does anybody here have a copy of the manual for KEdit for DOS?-- Regards,Dan FitzGeraldThey/Them or She/HerClassical Computing Laboratory at IBM- Poughkeepsiehttp://www.vm.ibm.com/devpages/dfitzger
