Just some caution that I think Facebook marketplace has been getting a rise in fraud attempts. I had posted something for sale and was getting bombarded by people trying to get me to ship the item. The minute I said local pickup / cash in hand only crickets. It seemed programmatic in one lowball offer from account #1 followed by slightly higher offer from account #2. And tons of accounts hitting me all at once.
Posted a wanted ad on FB in a mid-atlantic region arcade group the other day for a 27/29" CRT monitor that does 31khz VGA mode (Sanwa 29e31s, Sega racer style) and got someone trying to sell me one from California. After looking at the account and the rediculous idea of shipping such a large item cost effectively I was pretty sure it was someone looking to steal.
Note, some of the accounts seem to be compromised or perhaps bot accounts created a number of years ago that have sat dormant.
Also, Craigslist has a TON of people posting stuff that are fraudulent listings. They generally won't respond if you want to pick up locally and are looking for people to try to talk them into shipping. There is someone who has been hunting them and exposing them. They are using past listing photos from the Reverb music instrument marketplace and posting on CL. Guitars, synths/drum machines, brass and woodwinds. High dollar stuff. Buyer beware. I've done some by mail transactions but could feel it out -- now it's more difficult to feel it out, they are better.
