Yes, this the print-head was stuck very much in one position. I'll have more time this weekend to take a deeper look and try to clean and lube it... The print wheel (the daisy wheel) did spin around... One thing to note- the alarm buzzer on this printer is louder than you would think.!. -andy

Did you try moving by hand with power off? Normally they will move with only some resistance when power is off. If not it may be dried oil like others said. There is debate on what if anything should be used on the rails.
