I'm also looking for a small used car, for my wife. As she is five foot zero, the challenge is to find a car "sized" for her. But that's not why I'm posting (although if you have a small car in good shape near NJ, contact me). The problem I'm having, is that Craigslist posts "by owner", most of the time are actually from small (or tiny) dealers. They simply don't know the history of the cars they offer. In the NJ/PA/NY area, lots of cars have water damage from floods or sea-salt; less from road salt. It's not apparent after the car is cleaned (there's "tells" I can mention if anyone's interested). And a title for "flood damaged" can be "laundered" by changing states ot titling (NJ-PA-NJ for instance). CarFax tracks some of that stuff but not all. This is good info to know - hence the post. My point is, there's lots of value in finding a REAL owner of a used car, who honestly describes its history. So one reason this kind of post is not so "insanely off-topic" is that this list offers "real" owners and buyers; it's a social purpose and of short duration.
