That is what I thought too, but apparently even though computer sees the device, it cannot access data. According to what I have read in forums this is due to encryption and my inability to get the phone to recognize my face or to type in my password. As to recommendations for screen replacement, which I would certainly consider, the phone was on the side of a highway and run over multiple times so it may be more than that. If someone knows a third party repair place they can refer me to I would happily bring it for them to assess. Thank you all for your insights.
