The "Smallest" of the V880 series fills like 1/4 of a server rack, there are some models that are a full rack tall as well.. According to the specs, the max ram (depending on the model), is between 16gb to 438gb, up to 8 processors (750Mhz to 1.2Ghz)..
There's only one size of V880 chassis; that's what makes it a V880. They take up a bit less than half a rack, if rack-mounted. Nearly all of them are on casters, though.
So yes, it's QUITE a big box..
Eh, it can be moved without a forklift. You should've seen the four Sun Fire 6800s that were here for awhile. They weigh just over half a ton.
I wonder if I could play DOOM on it.. LOL
Uh, no. ;) My Core-i7 Extreme desktop is only *just* able to keep up with a 1.2GHz V480, which is the same as a V880 but a smaller chassis, which only takes up to four CPUs. Don't underestimate the amount of real work one of these boxes can do; this isn't a toy "vintage collectible" Sun. Give it another ten years for that. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA
