I agonized for years, literally years, over the name of the museum we started out here. I even "settled on" a couple of names that, after sitting in my mind for a few months, I grew to dislike. I eventually decided on "Large Scale Systems Musuem" as it is refined, understated, not childish, and respectable, while getting the point across as to what the place actually IS. The only failing of that name (in my opinion) is that it doesn't convey the notion of machines being running and demonstrable, as the Living Computer Museum's name very nicely does.
That's why I started this thread by asking for an alternative to "living" since that is already taken. I also said that we'd be very happy to have an equally ideal one-word synonym for "community center" since we're more than just a museum. Best of all would be if that word starts with 'F' to fit our scheme of Festivals / Forum / ???? but I know that's asking a lot.
Yes. Something that encompasses everything you want to represent, while still having a nice "ring" to it is going to be tough. I will keep noodling on it, but I'm historically very bad at coming up with names. (for most anything..) -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA
