This is a pet peeve of mine. Leave the finish alone. Don't scrub, don't buff and definitely don't "retrobrite". I'm sure I'm in the minority. If anything a little mild soapy water is all I use. To clean or not to clean vintage computer items. Mike had an issue with a computer I sold him that someone had apparently used GooGone on, and he thought it was just dirty from the photos. I guess I could have been clearer in the description. That being said, what are the thoughts on cleaning vs. not cleaning vintage machines? My thought is that I want to keep original finishes intact as much as possible, and if I’m selling something even more so as I am certainly not a restoration expert. I do clean basic dust and dirt, but leave more difficult cleaning alone (such as adhesive, marker, or anything that requires disassembly that could potential damage the item - like keyboard caps or Retro-briting yellowed plastic.) What’s the consensus? Obviously we don’t want to receive a computer that had rodents or insects living in it, but what would be your preference? (Note: in my defense, I try hard to very accurately describe condition on items with clear photos, and I do solicit questions, but I’m not infallible.) Bob Shuster
