Not a whole lot of information to report at this time. Much effort is going into preparation for VCF East 2023.
- Vendor and Exhibit slots are now full for VCF East 2023. If you still want to participate, make sure to get your name in on the waiting list.
Yes. We already had someone drop out so you may still have a chance to get your exhibit in. Send your name to vcfeast@vcfed.org to be put on the waiting list.
- We now have a 1/10 scale model of the ENIAC in the Museum. Many thanks go to Ryan Stewart for providing it.
It's really awesome! Brian L. Stuart is his name, Drexel University professor and speaker at past VCF East talks. The docents are looking to make improvements on the presentation of this 3D printed model.
- Also added to the Museum is a mechanical calculator. A novel item that still has a lot to teach us about counting in decimal. :)
It has become a very exciting exhibit for visitors to the museum.
- The restoration of the IBM 1130 is still ongoing.
I just want to clarify that the IBM 1130 restoration hasn't begun yet. We are waiting for System Source's IBM 1130 restoration to be completed first by Carl Claunch. Once that is completed, then System Source will transport our system down to Carl. Carl is taking extra time to make sure everything is working on their system before sending it back.
- The Committee is looking into "Awareness Exhibits" for other vintage computer museums around the country/world. This would manifest as a table or video exhibit in or near the VCF-MA Museum, and at events like VCF East. The idea is to promote a shared awareness of other vintage computer museums and the nature of their exhibits. It may be in the form of a video ad, tri-fold flyers, or even scheduled live video feeds during Museum operating hours where you could virtually visit those other locations.
