It can be run on single-phase power (though quite a lot of it) with a minor, reversible modification.
Knew that, too, though either way we'd need new/additional circuits and having three-phase in there for larger machines is probably a good idea.
Yes, it'd take quite a bit of power one way or the other. And then there's disk/tape on top of that. But just keep that modification in mind; I don't mind that being done *by an electronics-savvy person* in order to get the machine running. A functioning 11/785 will be a big draw for a certain class of people.
