When I was in the Army in the mid 80s, I had a standard wood desk with side drawers, and a matching wooden chair, sitting along a wooden twin bed frame, not unlike the attached picture. My C64, 1541, and GE color television took up the entire desktop. It's not too far-fetched to compare that to a kid's bedroom set of furniture of the era.
