Hi Jeff, There’s a bunch of demos that don’t work on emulators or even on real hardware when there’s a fast loader cartridge present. Among other obscure tricks, they often use the processor in the external disk drive (which is a 6502!) as a coprocessor. A good one to try is the “We Are” demo; see http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=67107 If that one works and shows up correctly you should be good. :) Best, Thomas F.

Bill, yes there are specific demos that I want to run that are PAL format. All the best demos are from Europe and are in PAL format. Like this one: < https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEZGt7aaIG4> The latest demos push the C64 to it's limits with incredible sound and graphics that make it look like it is a 16 bit machine. Sure I can run it in an emulator, but I want to run it on a real machine.
