Ok, so this is interesting. I reconfigured the board as “extended” memory rather than the default “expanded” memory. The PC now detects it, so that’s good, and it passes the memory test in the QAPlus Diagnostics program. It seems to be running fine so I tried Intel’s own program, and that works too. I have no idea what happened. Maybe I did have a dip switch setting wrong. Who knows. Even so, if anyone has a complete doc/disk package, I’d still like to archive it and post it to make it easier for others to configure this. Thanks! It seems that the Intel driver is needed to make the board work in expanded memory mode.Ok, no problem. One file archive I found gives me the command line for the driver, so I modified CONFIG and gave it a whirl. It claims that the board isn’t setup properly. So, I try the setup program and it claims that files are missing for the setup. Doh! I have found very little complete information on-line on the AboveBoard/AT…I have found pieces of info, but not a complete manual PDF or a complete driver disk. So, if anyone has it, please let me know and I’ll make sure it gets posted. I don’t really need this board to do what I need, but it’s now like “Joe Versus the Volcano”. Arrrgh. Too many chips to swap one at a time, then reboot and retest. > > Does anyone have a DRAM tester that they can loan me so I can test all of the chips at once? Also, if anyone has experience configuring this board, I’d appreciate hearing from you. The instructions I found seem simple, but I’m trying to knock off possible problems one-by-one. > > Thanks! > > Rich > > -- > Rich Cini > http://www.classiccmp.org/cini > http://www.classiccmp.org/altair32 > > > >
