A "big fat" $500 On Thu, May 11, 2017 at 8:05 AM Tony Bogan via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:
Christopher Bachman got the vast majority of my back and forth on the facebook page with this group.
Many of their comments were childish taunts or rants, but they made it clear that they not only signed all necessary documents with IA but that they were given express permission to touch, move and manipulate the items in the museum. Again, this is according to them, so take that for what it's worth.
This is an issue that worries me greatly, and others have already commented on. I won't discuss it further, the points been made by others already as to how big a deal that is.
One of the comments made in my exchange with this group was something like "if they're this upset with photos wait till they see the film" or words to that effect. If it is ever felt the need is there, perhaps there is something to be done about the fact that VCF property is being used in a film without VCF's express permission. Maybe not, just something to keep in mind if this situation escalates. Hopefully it won't and this is the end of it as relates to this specific incident.
The liability issue is something I raised with the people I was going back and forth with, but unfortunately my comments were deleted moments after I made them.
The liability to infoage is a big deal, but not my first concern. The potential that someone could be injured is what worries me most, with the potential liability to VCF right there with it. IA needs to watch out for itself, VCF simply needs to be sure it/we don't put IA in an untenable situation, which of course we would never intentionally do.
How this can be dealt with in the future (a similar situation to what happened yesterday) is above my pay grade with VCF. I'm not a board member so I'm not privy to how this has been and will be dealt with. I have my own feelings/ideas, of course. However, my goal in writing this is to say I will gladly help in any way I can now and in the future to assure something like this never happens again. From email exchanges I've had since last night I know many others feel the same way.
How big a check did IA get? Maybe our group deserves a cut since it was the VCF artifacts being used for filming! ;-) Tony
