Hi Herb, Well aware of the issues with tants and vintage equipment. I've replaced plenty in my time. The CRT in the 88 appears good. What looks like phosphor blasted off the inside is just an unfortunate pattern of dust. All of the things I will be bringing to the swap meet have been stored in a cool, dry, climate controlled (if somewhat dusty) storage unit. Bill S. Bill, the H88 on your sheet entry. Can you check the CRT to see if the neck is open? Or clean the CRT face? From the photo, it's hard to tell the issue.
I don't recommend powering up the H88. The tantalum caps on the +12 /+18V line tend to short out and burn up traces. It's because 120V AC line voltage raises the 18 volts to more like 21V which exceeds the 20V rating of the caps. That, and age. The H88/89/19 expects 110VAC.
Regards Herb
