Herb and I have been discuss something similar for the last few weeks. I'm adding a floppy emulator to my Peripheral Technologies PT69-5A and PT68K2s.
Getting the files from Linux/DOS/Windows to the disk image has been an interesting challenge. And getting the images from the real floppy to the image files another adventure. Still working on that one.
