Be very careful when doing this, and if you must do it, only move it very slowly. Like any motor, the stepper motor that moves the head carriage will generate voltage when it's turned by hand. This often fries stepper motor drivers. Slower motion generates less voltage and is safer. I did this accidentally on my pick-and-place machine last year.
I also recommend disconnecting the motor from the board. It should have a plug. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies
