There's still a bunch of ASIC handling offload of forwarding so I'm still confused as to what precisely is software defined in SDN ;)
I'm working with SDN (and NVF and VNF and ...) and it allow the networks to build and teardown the routes, bridges, GWs, and Services (Gateway) as needed. Easier to see in the LTE network but I was surprised when I saw they figured it out to the CPE also.
