My name is David K and I am more a fan of vintage computers than any sort of expert. I am in the health care field and currently teach at a college in Reading PA. I've been reading the daily digest for awhile and realize I am in over my head and have very little to offer to the group. I get excited if I can open an Apple disk drive, clean off the head, and get it back together. Many of the topics discussed I have no familiarity with (ex. Unix). But I love vintage computer and have more than a dozen in my basement. I grew up with the Apple IIe - still my favorite - and have other popular machines like the Atari 800XL, Vic 20, TI-99/4A, Apple IIgs, etc. I would love to know more about these machines including how to make repairs (I have an Apple IIc plus that has a stuck internal disk drive, a Mac that will only boot to the image of the disk with a question mark, a Commodore 64 with no sound) but lack the skills and typically do not feel confident doing work based on videos or pages I see online. I live about 2 hours from the museum but it sounds awesome and I will make a pilgrimage there in the near future. If there is anyone in the southeast part of PA (Berks, Lancaster counties, etc.) who is interested in connecting feel free to email me. I am excited to be part of the group.
