PET 2001 and DEC Rainbow 100B2
I just stopped by an antique store here in my area (NJ) and there is a fully working PET 2001 that the guy wants $750. I am not getting it but I hate to see it there on the shelf. Anyone in the group interested? There is also a DEC Rainbow 100-B2 complete (keyboard and monitor included) and I offered $250. The guy didn’t return yet but I might not take if he goes too much above that. In that case, I will also pass to the group. Anyone interested? Ricardo. Sent from my iPhone
Interested in the rainbow - assuming the VR201 doens't have cataracts, would be a nice addition to the collection. $750 for the pet, even with the chiclet keyboard, is a bit more than i can do right now. $750 is a tad high for just a Pet 2001 is it not? If it had the dual floppy drives with it then, no, that's okay of a price. -----Original Message----- From: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic-bounces@lists.vcfed.org> On Behalf Of Ricardo 8-Bit Desk via vcf-midatlantic Sent: Monday, July 1, 2024 3:51 PM To: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Cc: Ricardo 8-Bit Desk <ricardo@8bitdesk.com> Subject: [vcf-midatlantic] PET 2001 and DEC Rainbow 100B2 I just stopped by an antique store here in my area (NJ) and there is a fully working PET 2001 that the guy wants $750. They've all but disappeared; I'd say it's not too bad if the flyback transformer and CRT are good and the keyboard is intact. -Dave On 7/1/24 16:30, David L Kuhn via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

Depends on condition. If it’s mint and working 100% I’d ask the same.

Hmm. I have been looking for a Rainbow forever, and even bought 4 VR201’s out of Texas that the guy was going to recycle because of the cataracts. (I donated them to VCF with 4 cables, still in the box because I could never find a system unit to pair them up to) What area of NJ? ________________________________ From: vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic-bounces@lists.vcfed.org> on behalf of David L Kuhn via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Sent: Monday, July 1, 2024 4:30:02 PM To: 'vcf-midatlantic' <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> Cc: daveyk021@gmail.com <daveyk021@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [vcf-midatlantic] PET 2001 and DEC Rainbow 100B2 $750 is a tad high for just a Pet 2001 is it not? I live at 08889 (whitehouse station). The store is in Washington, NJ. I agree on the PET being a little bit too high. We might be able to negotiate a little bit, not sure. I think those stores always go on the high side waiting for some counter offer. The DEC monitor is OK, working and no catarat, as far as I could see. Keyboard also looks to be in a good state. I will try to stop there and test. I just don’t want to show too much interest so he keeps the price down. If anyone wants the PET (or have any offer) let me know and I can pass along. For the DEC, wait a few days for news. R. Sent from my iPhone

I know the place. Most of his stuff is overpriced and he will sit on it for years waiting for a buyer. On Mon, Jul 1, 2024 at 5:32 PM Ricardo 8-Bit Desk via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Is it really too much trouble to just give the name of the address of the place or is it against the rules here? Sent from: My extremely complicated, hand held electronic device.

Yes. It is called Get a Grip. It is overpriced and the guy is tough to break. Occasionally i get something out of him (like I am hoping with this DEC) Sent from my iPhone
