For a small, CMOS, home-runnable, full-blown Cray vector supercomputer? Are you seriously asking if that's a good price? The only real question here is what the hell to do with that big-ass trailer and all of its accouterments. -Dave On 11/28/2017 10:40 AM, Joseph Oprysko via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

Obviously so that you'd own the largest mobile computer on earth. On Tue, Nov 28, 2017 at 11:14 AM, Dave McGuire via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:

You guys are just waiting for me to comment, huh? :) There are two 50s/60s-era Army-green trailers parked at InfoAge. They're under control of the electronic warfare group, whose leader (John C.) is a super-nice guy. We get along well. A while ago I asked him if we could use one trailer to build a MOBIDIC replica. He liked the idea. We "just" need the know-how and money to do it. I'll send a fresh list message about the topic, no time like the present!

Better than the almost $4k EISA card in the ads below it. ;-) I did find the 3K shipping to be a bit scary. Especially since it's trailer mounted. The machine is installed in a trailer that appears to be at least most of a mobile datacenter. A very interesting potential business opportunity, for someone who has the time to pursue it. The $3K shipping fee is listed as "flat rate", and it's a 48-foot trailer, as in the "trailer" part of a "tractor trailer". I'd assume this means $3K will get a trucking company to send a tractor and a driver to pick it up and bring it to you, I assume within the US. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA

Or Northern Virginia :-) (Though mine is sitting in Norfolk still for the time being.) So... heavy.
