Can someone diagnose a Vic20 Saturday morning?
Hi all, I have a Vic20 that the seller told me was rescued from the garbage. Looking at it I found 2 issues - photos here: https://twitter.com/RatifyArticle1/status/1495851785885560841 <https://twitter.com/RatifyArticle1/status/1495851785885560841> It still doesn’t have video when turned on. I have a list of the chips to check - they are all receiving power. Let me know if anyone will be available to take a look at it and try to diagnose the problem in the CDL sometime between 7am and 1pm Saturday. Thanks, Eric
I will be manning a table at the Swapmeet Saturday until 2PM, so I won't be able to focus my full attention on your VIC-20 until I get back to the Workshop. If you want to stop by my table in the 9032A building, I might be able to do a quick check of the system. I will have my VIC-20 diagnostic cartridge on hand. I did learn recently, much to my amazement, that a "black screen" VIC-20 that appears to have measurable logic activity, could still have a bad 6502 CPU. I witnessed this myself after swapping one out in a VIC-20 recently and it fired up just fine. Thank you Jeff. I will also be at the repair workshop Sunday morning, so we can look at it then if it is more convenient. I did try replacing the 6502 and one of the 6522s but it had no effect. Thanks, Eric
