Sounds like a very interesting class. I would be interested in expanding my vintage system knowledge beyond the “home” computers. I have used SimH to run HP Timeshare BASIC, but never got into VMS. Related to the availability of VAX workstations, I have received a few inquiries. They can't be totally free. I drove from Pittsburgh in a rental to get them and that cost money. I will figure out how to allocate the reimbursement cost. and post the workstations on Ebay at that cost. I will announce in advance to vcfed so you all can get a leg up. Because they'll be cheap they'll sell out quicker than at the normal prices I have been seeing for same. I may bring some for the consignment table at VCFed too.
I just feel that posting them on eBay is kind of going against what you said the requirements for the donations were. By making sure they go into the hands of hobbyists. How do you know that when you sell them on eBay, that they aren’t going to somebody who strips and recycles vintage hardware? For the requests you have from the group, it would be better to arrange individual sales, at least that’s how I feel.
