semi Off Topic: unbricking a Chromebook
I salvaged a Lenovo 100e Chromebook 2nd Gen MTK model 81QB I'm trying to reinstall ChromeOS to give it to Infoage for the front desk. At first, the boot screen told me to insert a USB drive with the recovery image. I went to http://google.com/chromeos/recovery and created a USB drive with recovery image (15329.59.0) I put the USB drive into the Chromebook only to get a blank screen. I left it alone for hours and nothing happened. Frobbing the power switch seems to have bricked it. It now gives a blank screen, only briefly flashing the "still updating" message. Is there any way to recover from this? Thanks -- jeff jonas

Another option you may want to try is ChromeOS Flex: https://support.google.com/chromeosflex/answer/11552529?hl=en It looks like the 100e is supported. Flex is the more open version of ChromeOS: "Google recently introduced ChromeOS Flex, a new version of ChromeOS that you can easily install and run on almost any computer – even one relegated to the back of your closet. The company presented Flex as an environmentally friendly way to recycle devices that are too old to properly run Windows or macOS."
