So Dennis and Dylan have been doing a great job filling in as docents in the VCF museum. It has been a great help for me to be able to take days off from the museum. However, they may be going to or back to college in September, so I will need more docents in the museum to replace them. Even if you come once a month, once every two months, it is helpful. Unfortunately, distance makes it difficult for me. Has anybody from a distance done docent work in the past over a weekend, arranging an overnight on-site to limit long distance back and forth driving each day? Yes. Distance is the problem for most of our members. I have had some do it that were 1 1/2 hours or 2 hours, but they stopped. This is why I ask only once in a while. What I used to do is just use them as emergency docents in case no one else could be there.

No one has asked, but I have offered to do this. VCF could allow free overnight stay in the Sandy Area as long as there were no other groups staying there. It could be fun if someone wants to make a weekend of working on a project of their own or museum projects that need to be done. Plus, the jersey shore has lots of fun stuff to do in the area. I have tried local places like colleges, etc. No luck. All the other groups have similar problems in recruitment. I was lucky that Dennis and Dylan came to us!
