Re: [vcf-midatlantic] 5.25 floppy reader & writer adapter

Because such a thing would be of limited utility. You could read and write disks that have one sector format, like the 3.5" versions. They cannot handle arbitrary sector formats like most real floppy controller chips with direct access to their configuration registers. One way to deal with this is the Greaseweazle, but that's a pretty specialized disk imaging tool that requires some knowledge to be able to use properly. It's not "plug and play" write-me-an-Amiga-disk or whatever, and it's not intended to be. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA

Sure, but I'm sure you understand my point. Just because you manage to get a floppy drive connected to a computer doesn't mean that it can magically handle arbitrary disk formats. -Dave On July 12, 2024 11:29:25 AM Sentrytv <sentrytv@yahoo.com> wrote:

Check out DiskFlashback. It can be used with a Greaseweazle or other hardware to do exactly this. https://robsmithdev.co.uk/diskflashback David

Cool. I think it’s still mainly read-only but it is being actively developed and supported, so hopefully more features arrive in the future.
