Is this PDP really worth that much? Ah the Dutch Auction was interesting. Thanks dBill idn't read that the first time. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry kd2zrq@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ
From my history 8/I's have gone $2500-$4000 in various configurations. Size does limit people interested. Looks like the paper tape is reader only. Reader/punches have gone for > $1000.
My guess won't sell to August. On Fri, Jul 12, 2024 at 12:12:37PM -0400, Neil Cherry via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

< Insert confused animated.gif here > It's up for $200,000 but if you wait two days it drops to $47,000? And if I wait till Aug 13th it's $1000? On Fri, Jul 12, 2024 at 11:46 AM Bill Degnan via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Trying to maximize sale price. If you have only one person who really wants it and nobody else to bid the price up it will go for less with straight auction. Here they hope the people will bid their maximum amount so will go for the current floor price even without other bidders. They drop prices until someone bites. Version of dutch auction. For those who didn't check into this listing further you can click on "Seller's other items" link and see the listings for the associated TC58 tape control rack and the RF08/RS08 fixed head disk rack. Same Dutch auction setup for those two items. Would be a heck of a lot handier to have the inter-rack cabling for bringing up and running the system, but I imagine PDP-8 big iron experts may have documentation for much of this. Man, I wish I could afford this auction but I'm 71 now and seriously beginning to thin out all the big piles of stuff I've got stuffed into my shop, office, basement, two garages and attic :-/ Good heavens. Additionally, there's a heap of Flip Chip modules listed, too. He's also got an IBM 059 card verifier for a cheap price or even best offer but with freight costs to be added (I guess several hundred bucks, at very least, for palletizing and shipping via LTL carriers from the Left Coast.) I remember using one in Jr college wa-aay back in time. Cheers, -Chris F. On 7/12/2024 12:39 PM, David Gesswein via vcf-midatlantic wrote:
