I used JR-Comm back in the day. I really liked it. It supported 80 column + full color ANSI. I do remember using it for file transfers. Donno about ATASCII off the top of my head. I used it to dial into the VAX at the university from my apartment to do my CS assignments, and skip the trip to the computer lab. I was so bleeding edge in 1990. I almost regret it though.
