Re: [vcf-midatlantic] New to group - Interested in Amiga

Hello Ryan, I am also in NoVA (Chantilly area.) Just got done re-capping an Amiga 4000T a few weeks ago with great success. Have done some repairs and have an Amiga collection. I tend to rotate between systems with Atari 8bit, Amiga, Atari ST currently being the forefront but have C64, Apple II, NeXT, SGI, Mac and others. There are a few of us :-) We could easily do a meetup. We have in the past. A few of us go to Phear the LAN (It's on meetup.com) There is a meeting the first Friday of each month for Phear, but we could also do a dedicated vintage computer one or Amiga one. I don't think I will be able to make Phear the LAN next month due to a gathering of laser show hobbyists and pros up in Delaware, but could do something else and maybe get a few other locals to hang out. I need to clean up my place a little bit and could host it. Current projects on my desk: Japenese Sega Saturn laser replacement, Sharp Twin Famicom disk drive belt replacement, Roland Juno 106 synth recalibration (replaced the voice modules and wave modules), and repairing an LED video wall. Amiga parts I need: Amiga 3000 front face and floppy, Amiga 1200 floppy, keyboard and metal shields. - Ethan
I'm also an Amiga enthusiast, and am in the DC area. A number of us hang out regularly. I have owned almost every Amiga model, but currently just have an A600 with a Vampire v2. - Alex On Tue, Jul 19, 2022 at 11:25 AM Ethan O'Toole via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Hello All/ Ethan/Alex/Bob, I currently don’t have any physical Amiga’s but its on my list to pursue. While my soldering skills are terrible I would be very interested in improving that skill as well and possible do so to rescue an Amiga if I come across one. More a project. I do think its great that you all have some good collection of machines. I appreciate you sharing what you have. I did order an A500 mini that is suppose to be here Saturday which will be pretty cool. I am looking forward to checking out a swap meet and meeting up with everyone! Now that said I would love to meet up with those interested and maybe find a place to do that meet up in the next couple of months if any are interested? I have ran across the Vampire v4+ standalone which looks pretty interesting as well. Unsure how much different it will be than just using emulation? Thank you -Ryan
