Slightly OT (Host site project)
Anyone coming to festivus have a PC running Java Runtime Environment v1.4.2 or Later ? Have an TemPageR that needs an older Java version to set the IP. https://avtech.com/PDFs/Products/TMP4E/Monitor_TemPageR_4E.pdf
You may download old versions https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/archive/ Be Careful! Later versions are paid, and Oracle will come after you if you download! Technically true, but I doubt they are interested in Joe User. Rant/Aside: I can tell you that they are very eager to discuss licensing with large firms, and their licensing terms have gotten even less palatable in the last 2 years. Initially, they wanted companies to license Java on devices it was used within an org, but that must not have been good enough or lucrative enough. So, now, they license Java for all devices in a company. If you want to license Java for 1 PC, you need to license it for all PCs in the company. Irrespective of your personal view of the language and technology, it's a sad situation. Hello! Martin what, ah, platform is this exactly that you need this older release of Java for? And equally important, what is it being hosted on? I've got it someplace, but it's for Slackware Linux. Also includes 1.5 and 1.6. Oh and anyone going to Festivus be careful! There's a grouchy something else wandering about the grounds complaining about the weather. ---- Gregg C Levine gregg.drwho8@gmail.com "This signature was once found posting rude messages in English in the Moscow subway." To help Martin out, can we drop the older Java (v1.4.2) into a docker container and run it? Or do we wee need a VM? -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ
