Sometimes being a computer historian helps with my daytime job as a technology journalist, because I have context that other reporters lack. Today I started working on a story about anti-DDOS measures and wound up snagging some predictions from Paul Mockapetris -- the guy who basically invented DNS. Fun times! In another recent story, I tracked down the people who made the product that became Veritas Netbackup. Not sure if I posted that here when it published back in June.
