I propose a slight modification... 7) A spouse who seeks to keep my activities within reasonable limits I can collect any computer I want as long as it fits in my side of the garage or the cellar. I need preapproval for spending anything over $250. If I sell computer things those funds do not need preapproval to be spent. -- Michael Thompson
I was allowed to store my pdp8 in the bedroom in between two tall pieces of wooden furniture. Kind of looked cool, but my wife knew it was temporary and I moved it to the basement as I promised...The key is to remember the wife is more important than any of my stuff be it computer, car, guitar, or sports. Spending money we don't have is stupid and if I was to buy anything we couldn't afford I'd deserve the trouble that follows. b

This is true ... And this all started when I made reference to spending 1/2 as much as a decent new car on a computer, not merely a couple of hundred ( which my wife generally would not have problem with ). -- -- Derrik Derrik Walker v2.0, RHCE dwalker@doomd.net "Those UNIX guys, they think weird!" -- John C. My wife is completely disinterested in anything technology related. She loves her figure skating and polar bears and Coach bags (which I am expected to understand), but when I try to share my hobby with her, she is like a deer in the headlights. However, she is incredibly understanding and encouraging and never places any unfair limits on me. As long as we can afford it, she is fine with me making reasonable purchases, and she is generous with me spending time at events (as long as I don't force her to attend, she would be bored to tears). I think the key is that we respect each other and we never take advantage of each other. She knows that she is my priority so there is never a conflict. I am very thankful for the relationship that I have with my wife. Chris
I had a wife that used to call my old computers crap.

My wife calls them "old crap" when 1) they are heavy and she has to help move them or 2) she stubs her toe on one. -- -- Derrik Derrik Walker v2.0, RHCE dwalker@doomd.net "Those UNIX guys, they think weird!" -- John C. Dvorak
