Tomorrow's Workshop
I checked out the site, we have enough tables for the16 people who confirmed plus a few extra. The back door area has a 1/2 inch of snow, which won't be problem. Everyone, just be careful at night as it might get slippery as it melts and refreezes. Evan and I will be on site around 9am and in the workshop area by 10am. No sweat. I figured I'd get there closer to 930 so everything is set when people start arriving. Let me know what time this afternoon you could use help moving stuff out of the museum. I'm sorry I didn't send this yesterday, but can anyone repairing 1541 and 1571 drives be on the lookout for unusual ROM revisions on the ROM chips on the board? There are several older revisions which nobody has copies of online, which I'd very much like to see for comparison to the later ones. Particularly the 1541 non-c non-II and 1571 '-04' revisions I.e. anything that isn't in this directory: ftp://www.zimmers.net/pub/cbm/firmware/drives/new/1541/ or this directory: ftp://www.zimmers.net/pub/cbm/firmware/drives/new/1571/ If anyone needs to replace roms, please dump the old ones before erasing them! IF I had known this ahead of time, I would have reminded people to check it when they opened the 1541. Can you be specific as to where you can find the ROM version on the board layout? We didn't open too many up. We mostly tested and sorted. I suspect another workshop would get into more tearing down, and fixing, mechanical and board problems alike.
