Re: [vcf-midatlantic] Insanely OT: anyone got a cheap car for sale?
Mazdaspeed Miata. Doesn't matter, already sold. I am very sad about it. On Wed, Sep 12, 2018, 10:30 AM Sentrytv via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

I can't offer you info on cars for sale. I need to get one for my youngest son because I'm tiring of driving him to OCC every day and the college has only been in session for a week. If you'd care to share any leads, I'm interested.
Might I recommend the Geo Metro? Good on gas, available in stick, commonly available for under a grand last time I checked. On Wed, Sep 12, 2018 at 10:35 AM Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

As a former owner of a Geo Metro (...turns in Man Card...), I can honestly attest to the 5-door version having a surprising amount of room to haul things, yet get very good gas mileage. I used to do field service work with mine, fixing, delivering, and installing large word processing machines. That being said, if a cylinder ever goes out in the engine (mine did once), you're driving a very heavy vehicle from the point of view of the remaining two cylinders. One of the reasons why I traded mine in within two years of ownership. On Wed, Sep 12, 2018 at 12:41 PM Drew Notarnicola via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

As a former 2001 Suzuki Swift owner (4 Cyl Metro, same car) I really liked my car. A lot and I would have sold it to Evan cheap. The only thing was the A/C went bad. I just got rid of it 2 months ago and I now have a Scion IQ I have owned two metros (one vert and one hatchback) and I really liked both. They are very very simple to fix and you can haul a lot of stuff with it. I looked on craigslist, cars.com and autotrader and I cannot find one for Evan. This one is nice and it's the 4Cyl with Fuel Injection (I had that) but he wants way too much for it. https://pennstate.craigslist.org/cto/d/1999-suzuki-swift-california/66844722... This one has too many miles https://poconos.craigslist.org/cto/d/2001-suzuki-swift/6682614402.html I don't know how far he wants to travel to find one.
Evan, I know it's not really your type of car, but for hauling ability (for a non SUV) ease/cost of repair and availability of parts. It's hard to beat a Ford Panther platform vehicle. There are a few in the city that are affordable. One has only 70k miles, and if you want to pep them up, Summit Racing has you covered. https://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/cto/d/2006-lincoln-towncar/6695908160.htm... https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/d/2006-lincoln-town-car/6669634465.ht... https://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/cto/d/1994-mercury-grand-marquis/66697004... Thanks, but I'd rather walk. :)
