Is this date fairly firm, or possibly subject to change? Just want to plan a hotel and such and don't want to overcommit. On Fri, May 9, 2025 at 12:46 PM Jeffrey Brace via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

This date is firm! It avoids Marconi Day, Easter, Passover and the expensive hotel season starting in May. It is the best day possible with all parameters taken into consideration. I have also made sure to make a deal with the weather gods to have no rain and no clouds. They were in a bad mood this year. Last year I didn't know why I got sniped on my original date, now I found out and had actually moved the original date that I selected April 24-26 to avoid that. Every year Marconi Day is around April 25, Guglielmo Marconi's birthday. There's a big event around the world at all Marconi sites and InfoAge is one of those sites. They have a field day where they are non-stop calling to the sites for 24 hours. It's a big deal in the community.

Have a thread open at https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?threads/analog-phone-lines-at-camp-evans-v... So the Usual Suspects at Camp Evans (the home of the VCF brick and mortar museum) have racked the ADIT-600 channel banks adjacent to the main exhibition space in Building 9032A. Both are cross-connected to RJ-11 patch panels, and CMG (SIP) service cards added. At the moment, they are on the Camp Evans Backbone, however they could be isolated on their own fiber and fed from CDL (Building 9059) * http://compdecon.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/F10_Adit_CMG_Card_Datasheet.... <http://compdecon.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/F10_Adit_CMG_Card_Datasheet.pdf> * http://compdecon.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_0489.jpeg <http://compdecon.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_0489.jpeg> Anyone interested in provisioning an Asterisk box locally to provide analog dial tone during VCF East 2026?? I think I remember seeing that a few weeks ago, and I was wondering what that was for! I *would* do it, as I operate a number of Asterisk systems with associated equipment and this is right up my alley, but unfortunately I'm not local so I'd likely only be able to attend Saturday. If someone else is able to do any needed wiring beforehand, I'm happy to help with setting up the box remotely if needed. I have a CMG card myself but haven't done anything much with it, and using TDM is really the proper way to set up a channel bank - IMO, using SIP will offer a significantly degraded experience. Any reason T1s can't be run back to the Asterisk server, particularly if it'll be on site? NA

Naveen, CDL has an HP G4 workstation and Digium 5TE420 T1 card that we offered to rack in the 9032A furnace room (and will do so once we iron out the UPS issue) - what we do not have the resources to run the horizontal cables to the exhibit location in 9032A. VCF would need to address that as show set-up. Martin

Which location is 9032A on the map[1]? I can't remember where that is off hand. By resources, is the main constraint the cable itself or something else? How many tables need to be wired up and what's the size of the room? [1] https://vcfed.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/VCFE_2024_Location-Map.pdf

Resources specifically reefers to running the horizontal cables from the furnace room to the tables / exhibits that need them, and removing them after VCF East (if not permanent and code compliant) Exhibit Setup and room size I would have to defer to Jeff Brace as the show-runner, 9032A is the big exhibit room closest to Marconi Road http://compdecon.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/infoage_building_number.jpg has them identified

If it turn out only one or two exhibitors need phone lines, I have a box of CISCO ATA191-3PW-K9 ATA that CDL set up for PoE, would be running network cable instead of analog voice to the exhibits. With that said, would prefer to have an permanent asterisk switch on site. Martin
