It's in transit, so I guess that's good enough .... I bought a four-volume set of Army books about (ahem) automatic data processing for a grand total of ten dollars. I viewed/copied some individual pages of the first three books while doing research at the old Ft. Monmouth museum several years ago. Didn't know there was a fourth book and they're not available on Amazon or used.addall.net or anyplace else. The volumes are: Book 1 - Introduction to ADPS Book 2 - Army use of ADPS Book 3 - Fieldata equipment Book 4 - Fieldata system application I'll loan these to the museum and put them on display with our MOBIDIC/Fieldata exhibit. But first, I will scan them and make them available to Bitsavers/Archive.org.
I don't know how narrowly/widely the Army distributed these books, but to me they are important because they show that some Army leaders were thinking about how such knowledge needed to be shared. From what I saw last time, these books are basically "for dummies" manuals about ADP in the military. I find that fascinating for 1960!

Cool, they arrived one day early. Here is a picture: http://snarc.net/adps_four_vols.jpg .... they're only maybe 25 pages each, but they're still very insightful for their time. Book 1 is dated January 15, 1960. Books 2 and 4 are dated October 15, 1960. Oddly, book 3 is dated February 15, 1960. How can book 3 publish eight months before book 2? Only in the federal government, that's how! LOL I don't understand this at all.

A very good find. For those who might have missed the VCF E 5 on video on field data: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fC6TlcSOPrY Priceless.
