German Navy replaces 8" drives in Frigates
Japan just got rid of their dependence on floppies. Seems Germany has decided to get with the times. Article suggest that they are using a floppy emulator. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/storage/german-navy-aims-to-repla... Herb and I have been discuss something similar for the last few weeks. I'm adding a floppy emulator to my Peripheral Technologies PT69-5A and PT68K2s. Getting the files from Linux/DOS/Windows to the disk image has been an interesting challenge. And getting the images from the real floppy to the image files another adventure. Still working on that one. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry kd2zrq@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ
I predict huge sales on German 8" floppy drives. Seriously though I hope they sell and not trash them On Fri, Jul 12, 2024 at 9:43 AM Neil Cherry via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Those Germans are so far behind the times! The US military managed to get rid of 8" floppies all the way back in 2019! :-) https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/24/us/nuclear-weapons-floppy-disks.html Devin On Fri, Jul 12, 2024 at 9:58 AM Christian Liendo via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:
