Very nice write-up, Bill! You should ask Oscar to authenticate your order/serial number, might increase the value of this in the future. :-) I think I have number 23 or something. thanks. I placed my order with the first 250 kits when Oscar first opened up the kit for sale, but I best I am the last to build one from this batch, eh? Better late than never. Actually I bet there are a few unfinished kits still to be found. I wonder how many of the first 250 are currently blinking away on the desk or shelf. b On Wed, Jan 11, 2017 at 10:27 AM, Chris Fala via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:

My prototype was running great until the RPi crapped all over the SD card. I've gotta go dig around and find out what to reload it with. I'm not on any of the PiDP-8 forums or anything yet. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA

Found out something interesting about the SD cards, even if you write protect them the internals will write to the memory. Some kind of book keeping. I need to double check that I read that correctly. It seemed to suggest that the SD's internal did writes on reads. So once I get the Pi up and running I'll backup the image to my NAS. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies

Once you get your SD card the way you want it, it's an easy matter to back up the card using the same software used to build the card (just in reverse). I went through three builds before I found the one I liked. I saved all three should I want to start over from a point of progress. b

I just dd under Linux, very simple. I just put it on the NAS as on site backup. I have automated scripts that run offsite backup also. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies
Mine is one of the first batch of 250 like yours, and mine is still unbuilt too! :-) No blinking yet here. On Wed, Jan 11, 2017 at 10:45 AM, william degnan via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote:
