One could do a design showing the progression from the Alto to the Macintosh, as a general "anniversary of the GUI" theme. On Tue, Aug 22, 2023 at 11:35 AM Christian Liendo via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

We can put an image of Steve Jobs, in a thieves disguise, in between the two devices. 😉 On Tue, Aug 22, 2023, 12:53 PM Thomas G via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Why does everything have to be an "anniversary"? On Tue, Aug 22, 2023, 12:53 PM Thomas G via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

*Why does everything have to be an "anniversary"?* Anniversaries resonate with the public and its a good enough mechanism to rotate themes. On Tue, Aug 22, 2023 at 2:43 PM Bill Degnan via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Some people are generalists and some people enjoy a specific computer or brand and thus it's their turn to celebrate. I don't know, I just think it's nice. On Tue, Aug 22, 2023 at 3:23 PM Dean Notarnicola via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

My original reply was a joke, why does it seem like every year there is an anniversary? Get it? Anyway, product releases have anniversaries, concepts less so. For example a theme called "mass storage", but I am not here to argue. Anniversaries serve as an anchor to be interpreted as each exhibitor sees fit. Sorry it went over my head :-) Themes like mass storage, educational computing, women in tech, etc., are also great! On Tue, Aug 22, 2023 at 5:11 PM Bill Degnan via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Hell, why not jump the gun and go straight to 2004? Feature a Socket 939 Athlon 64 system running Half-life 2. After all, '04 is as far from 2024 as the original Macintosh was from '04. ;) On Tue, Aug 22, 2023 at 8:54 PM Bill Degnan via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Retro gaming groups beat us to it :) Seriously though, those early PCs are becoming desired and I see a lot of the younger generation interested in them. I expect to see discussions on subjects like early PC graphics cards as more of them will be coming to our events.
