VCF East will be May 18-20. Three reasons: Better weather, not too close calendar-wise to VCF SE, more planning time for us after VCF PNW. Off-campus lodging rates will likely be higher because of tourist season which official begins the following weekend, but I'd book now if I were you. Just like last year, on-campus lodging (barracks style) will be available for $25/night/person EXCLUSIVELY for exhibitors, authorized volunteers, speakers, etc. We considered adding a second day of classes (Thursday) but Infoage management said no. No other details available at this time. ________________________________ Evan Koblentz, director Vintage Computer Federation a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit evan@vcfed.org (646) 546-9999 www.vcfed.org facebook.com/vcfederation twitter.com/vcfederation instagram.com/vcfederation

Any particular reason IA Management said no to a fourth day? Was it a scheduling conflict or did they simply not want us doing 4 days? Tony
So now that the VCF board has nailed down a date: There will be a stream up most of Saturday for the three podcasts currently booked - if your audio / video guy can get a feed into 9059, you have the option of streaming other portions of VCF. News to me ... Which podcasts are booked? What are these podcasts? Who is running them? if your audio / video guy can get a feed into 9059,

That should have gone directly to Evan, I fat fingered the address. The folks podcasting have identified themselves, so no need for me to repeat. They will be working from the CDL podcast studio in Building 9059. If anyone wants more information about the studio, contact me directly to avoid cluttering up the list Martin Flynn

Just kidding around. From what I hear, their event is awesome for people in that hobby. Our event and Dayton have overlapped before. Bottom line is * every * weekend is no good for somebody. So we pick the weekend that's best for the largest amount of people.

For various definitions of "that hobby". It's not a ham-specific thing. Lots and lots of PDP-11s have gone through there, to put things into perspective.

Yes, I hear you and I agree with your logic, but my concern is that if any event is going to be a "bad" collision, it's that one. Maybe err on the side of one of the mouth-breathing sport-o things or something, which most people here will ignore anyway? Just a suggestion.. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA
Looking for the silver lining here, the date in mid-May is likely to work out well for many college students. It allowed me to come in 2011, following finals week. In the years before and after, as the event jumped from month to month, it frequently collided with the semester, leading to consistent disappointment. I realize that we don't have heavy attendance from the student demographic, but it is nice to know that the calendar is in collective favor this year. -Alexander 'Z' Pierson On Friday, December 22, 2017, 9:25:58 PM EST, Dave McGuire via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vintagecomputerfederation.org> wrote: On 12/22/2017 09:22 PM, Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic wrote:
