It's one of the last SGIs. Future collectable if you ask me ;) On Mon, Apr 29, 2024, 9:28 PM Dave McGuire via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Very cool! But I can tell you that VCF doesn't have the room much less be able to display such a unit. Maybe someone else with a lot more room and money to support such a machine. On Mon, Apr 29, 2024 at 9:25 PM Christian Liendo via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

Speaking of huge VCF iron, I haven't been in the warehouse in a couple years. Is the VAX 9000 still in there? On Mon, Apr 29, 2024, 10:13 PM Jeffrey Brace via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

The VAX 9000 is long gone; it went to a private collector some time ago. It is in a good home. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA
I think we've learnt our lesson after our last attempt to acquire Intel-based SGI supercomputers... The thing will likely end up being a white elephant to whoever gets it, anyways - I'm not familiar with any museums with the funding or resources to operate a machine of this scale, and it would surely be a gumption trap for any private individual - hobbyist, scrapper, or otherwise. Hopefully I get proven wrong! -Thomas On Tue, Apr 30, 2024 at 9:04 AM Dave McGuire via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:
