OT - Ultrasonic board cleaner
Shopping heated ultrasonic cleaners to clean radio boards prior to repair. Have used and owned Cole Parmer units in the past, the Cole-Parmer 08895-76 is the unit I am considering Looking for feedback on both other options, and what is the biggest unit that would be practical for the Makerspace Martin
Martin, Be careful: Back when John McCain started the conflagration on the USS Forrestal we had the Forrestal's NTDS computers in the shop to clean up the water and smoke damage. The DTL UNIVAC circuit cards were being run through ultrasonic cleaners. When the first computer was powered up it was completely dead. Turned out that one of the cleaners was at a frequency that wiped out almost all of the diodes on the cards. They ordered thousand of diodes and had people working around the clock to repair the cards. When you get the tester maybe we can give you a card to try. Duane, Interesting - What was the failure mode? Mechanical or via an RF induced current? Martin On 9/11/2022 7:50 PM, Duane Craps via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

Are the diodes glass diodes and maybe the junction on the diodes were vibrated to the point of failure? Sent from: My extremely complicated, hand held electronic device.

Went with the Cole Parmer 08895-16, with a one gallon tank. Tank Length: 9 1/2", Width: 5 1/2, Height: 6" Will be in the makerspace as soon as we set up a bench for it. Feel free to use it during workshops, refill with distilled water only, CDL will keep stock in house.
