OT: questions for famous hacker
I'm writing an article for work about end users being the weakest links in network security. Lined up an interview with a really famous hacker -- don't want to say who, but it begins with "Kevin" :) at 5pm ET today. That's one hour from now. Looking for serious suggestions of questions to ask him. Please reply on-list or privately, and PLEASE refrain from sarcasm or thread-drift.

Evan, Since it is all over the news, I would think someting aobut the hacking at the DNC, since it was from clicking on phising emails. Or the ramifications of a politicion asking a foregin government to activly hack into someones email. How about the non-typical, we know most users would sell their soul for a candy bar and that the passwords used are easily guessed or crackable. How about the damage done once the malware is on the network and what it's doing. And perhaps why a topic on why it's important for home users to secure even their little device like printers and router. I was wondering about the percentage of hacks that are social engineering vs. Actual exploits and if that has changed over time.

That's outside the scope of the story. Focus is on corporate (not home) user awareness training.

Home users carry that attitude to their office, also a lot of people now work from home. As a side note, a decade ago a place I worked at had a pretty new corporate printer added to our lab (we had no choice). Shortly after it was installed we get a message from Corp. Sec that our lab needs to be isolated from the corporate network. We find out the printer had a windows server on it. To make matters worse we find out it had a virus and no virus protection. Things got worse when we found out our test equipment also had Windows and the company wouldn't let us put any virus protection on it. Purchasing took care of that issue with a cancellation of our next order. The virus protection was added within a week. Evan, What about questions on infrastructure/SCADA vulnerability? I still don't think that we have seen the greatest fallout from the failure to properly protect power/water/etc. plants. - Alex
