VC Forum joining VC Federation
A poorly-kept secret plan is now official. :) Erik Klein's Vintage Computer Forum will soon be part of the Vintage Computer Federation. Erik will continue running the forum on the Federation's behalf. The only public change will be the address: it will move from http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/forum.php to http://www.vintagecomputerfederation.org/forum/ .... of course there will be a redirect while people get used to the change. Erik asked me to announce here that he's looking for additional forum moderators. He's picky about selecting the right people :) but anyone interested should email him at webmaster@vintage-computer.com or send him a private message through the forum.
But why type in a different URL? Or break the existing ba-zilion links that already exist on the Internet? -Alan On 2015-12-13 20:42, Evan Koblentz via vcf-midatlantic wrote:

I was thinking the same thing. Erik - that'd be crazy to change the domain, but the solution is simple, keep both domains pointing to the same place. If you guys have any issues let me know privately and I will set up the DNS as I have access with the other project work we're doing. Without getting into the specific details here I have done this many many times both with a provider DNS or a manually-edited DNS. -- Bill

Just for completeness in response, you also have to make the http server aware if you are hosting on a machine with other virtual domains. URLs possibly need to be re-written if the web-server or forum back-end might choke on a different server name. -Alan
