Re: [vcf-midatlantic] Working on a historical microprocessor exhibt
Tony, you just reminded me ... A hugely important processor in the history of processors the 6501. It's really too bad you won't get one to display and if you do it needs to be guarded. 6800 ($300+ as I recall) -> 6501 (sued into oblivion by Motorola) -> 6502 (for less than $30). Remmeber $300 is was more than I made in a week in 1980 (35 hours). So jump that back to 1975, that's quite a bit of money for just the CPU. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies
Neil, VCF owns a 6501 in the original packaging with documents etc. it is currently on display in the museum (behind a locked glass door) I cannot attach photos to this list but there are some close ups of VCFs actual 6501 on the Facebook page. Tony Sent from my iPhone

That's actually the one I was thinking of :-) I had forgotten about it because I was thinking of microprocessors I've used. I've used the 6800, the 6802, the 6502 and 6809. I skipped the 6501 since it wasn't a processor I used. I've worked with other processors (a lot of us have) but I'll stick to this shortened list for now. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies
