Official Opening Date of MARCH/VCFed Museum
Looking through the old website files before we switched to WordPress we had a page to announce the official opening of the museum. Anyone care to guess what was the official date of the museum's grand opening? A) September 13, 2008 B) May 10, 2008 C) April 21, 2007 D) September 15, 2007 Bill
C) April 21, 2007 On Thu, Nov 9, 2023 at 11:25 AM Bill Degnan via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

I've dug up some photos of the original museum timestamped in 2006, though of course nothing to indicate it being "officially open" by then... C or D, perhaps? [image: 3_the-proud-family-at-infoage.jpg] On another note - does anyone have more detailed photos showing the original make-up of the museum? What was originally on display, how it was arranged, etc. It might be a novel idea to recreate a portion of it in our new, larger museum space - to point at it and say "Look how we've grown!" and highlight the nearly 20 years of work needed to get to where we are today. -Thomas G. I don't have photos of museum 1.0, but I have of museum 2.0

Found this old email Date: Mon, 18 Jul 2005 03:23:10 -0400 From: Evan To: midatlanticretro@yahoogroups.com Subject: [midatlanticretro] Name for our museum? Jim Scheef pointed out that if we're going to announce our existence to the world on August 13, we better figure out a name for the museum. Didn't find the actual annoucement. From reading through the old midatlanticretro list messages, I see that we had a "preview room" from the spring of 2006. The actual 4-room museum was officially opened at VCF East 5.0, September 13-14 in 2008. Again, this is from message list discussion, but I didn't see an actual announcement. I started at the VCF East which was probably September 13, 2008. I know that there was a Museum 1.0 which was in the Marconi Hotel and it was a 10 by 10 foot room. I helped clear it out some time afterwards with Evan. Museum 2.0 was in 9032-C which was in five 10' x 10' rooms (2 were joined together). If this was the official opening, then I would say May 10, 2008. I recall reading older emails before I had joined about figuring out which computers to put in there. So I chose May 10, 2008.
