semi OT: looking for Compact Flash cards
I'm looking for Compact Flash Cards. Does anyone have some to spare? I just got a tiny68k board and it uses a Compact Flash card. Are there adapters from Compact Flash to SD card? -- Jeff Jonas

I think I have one, will you be at the Jan 13th workshop?

I'm not aware of one but it is my understanding that the CF interface is IDE (I think PIDE). -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry ncherry@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies

IDE is one of the things a CF card can emulate directly; it can also act directly as a PCMCIA memory card. It's a great standard, and it's easy to interface to parallel buses, which is why it's popular on older embedded machines. Any CF to SD adaptor would have to replicate quite a bit of functionality because SD/MMC is a fundamentally serial interface with a wholly different protocol. Fortunately, small ones are quite cheap now (and you probably don't need a large one). - Dave

I assume you mean SD to CF. They are actually fairly common. Pro photographers use them to add large storage to older digital cameras that use CF cards. Depending on your application, you may need to ensure that it supports DMA (and not just PIO mode). For instance, replacing the storage in an iPod Mini requires DMA support.
Formatted and tested, and you're supporting a retro vendor: https://www.reactivemicro.com/product/512mb-cf-card/ You can however find better deals on eBay - assuming no one here steps up.
