Re: [vcf-midatlantic] TRS-80 Home Automation System - $300 (Belmont) on Craigslist
I agree that the system is cool and it's fun to have so many components together in one listing (even if the price skews high). And while people on this list might be jaded by the quality of the technology, I think a lot of less tech-savvy folks (like myself) would be impressed with what 'smart-home' technology was back in the 80's.
I would like the stuff for nostalgic reasons, even if it isn't particularly usable. On Tue, Jan 23, 2024 at 10:17 AM David K via vcf-midatlantic < vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

I can probably put a demo together for that. Not sure when I can do it. I also happen to have Steve Ciarcia's HCS II that interfaces to X10, Analog, Digital and a modem. It can kind of talk. But my original HA system was my 3B1 interface to the Heath Kit GD-1530 kit (BSR-x10 to RS232). I later replaced that with my 6386sx, Linux and a CM15A. I might be able to build a filter to make the AC impedance look better so the X10 will work. So much of today's electronics act like a signal sink that X10 often fails to work. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry kd2zrq@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ
