Nicholas Lordi passed away on Friday, Nov 4th
Not sure how many people knew Nick, but hope this is okay to post here. This is from his daughter Nicole: Hello Neil: I am not sure we have met. I would sometimes bring my father Nicholas Lordi, to the makerspace on Monday night, when he was no longer able to drive at night. I am writing to let you and InfoAge know that Nicholas passed away suddenly on Friday November 4th. We are having a viewing on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 2pm - 5pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall Twp. InfoAge and the makerspace was important to my father. In lieu of flowers, I would like to ask people to make a donation to InfoAge--should they do that on the website? Thank you and best wishes, For those who do not know Nick, he was a member of IXR & CDL, donated to fixed up the classroom in memory of his wife (I'll get her name) and was always working on a project. He had a working robot, loved Forth and recently fell in love with a version of BASIC for the PIC32 and ARM. I'm trying to figure out where donations should be sent in Nick's memory. Nick will be missed, I liked Nick. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry kd2zrq@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ
I remember Nick too, he was always sharp. He used to hang out with MARCH back in the late 2000's when I knew him. Bill On Sun, Nov 6, 2022 at 9:38 PM Neil Cherry via vcf-midatlantic <vcf-midatlantic@lists.vcfed.org> wrote:

He visited us just a few weeks ago and was as sharp as ever. His latest toy was Micromite BASIC for the PIC32 (I think the ARM also). He liked this better than Forth. We spent that night star gazing so I didn't get a chance to talk to him much about it. His daughter had dropped him off because his night vision kept him from driving. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry kd2zrq@linuxha.com http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ

I'm so sorry to hear that. Not surprisingly, we spent a while chatting the year I had a Friday class and an exhibit on Forth. He will indeed be missed. BLS

Neil. Yes. It is OK to post this here. In fact, I was going to post it from the CDL list. So sorry to hear of his passing. He left us too soon. I have known him for years since I first joined VCF in 2008. I hadn't seen him for a few years and had wondered how he was doing. He will be missed indeed. I will always remember his love for Forth and getting into other projects. Such a smart and nice guy. Thank you for sharing this information.

I found his obituary. I remember meeting him although we didn't speak much. https://www.obrienfuneralhome.com/memorials/nicholas-lordi/5062548/index.php My condolences to his family. I won't be able to make the viewing but I think we should have a small toast to him at the next get together.
